West Nile Virus

OVERVIEW

In 2023, West Nile Virus (WNV) was detected in 19 mosquito samples trapped by The Garland Health Department. No WNV human cases were confirmed in Garland. The presence of the disease in mosquitoes means that transmission to humans is possible throughout the city, so residents were urged to take preventative measures.

The Garland Health Department continues trapping at 3 selected locations per week.
